Peres is as much a war criminal as any Israeli Prime Minister has been. Furthermore, he is a figurehead. He can't offer Abbas any substantial concessions that would make Abbas want to enter into negotiations with Israel. Abbas is right to not seek another term and be forced into playing collaborator with the Israelis.

Israel has demonized Hamas and marginalized Abbas. Israel just wants someone to pretend to negotiate with. I hope Abbas sticks to his decision.

Israelis have done horrible things to Palestinians. Palestinians have done horrible things to Israelis. Can we ***** get over it already? The thing that really pisses me off about the whole conflict is that it seems as if I'm forced to take sides here. I have no desire to take sides here. I sympathize with both sides, and yet I recognize that both sides have committed terrible acts in support of their cause.

both did horrible things to each other? when did palestinians stole anything from the israelis? when did they bomb the israelis with phosphorus bombs and killed thousands of them? more than 11 thousands of palestinians are in the israeli prisons including ministers and parliament members, teens, old women, kids etc etc, oh well if you consider resiting the occupation is sth horrible then sure palestinians are doing horrible things to the israelis because they are fighting for their freedom/land/dignity

So Abbas pulls out of an election he wouldn't have won anyway and blames it on Obama. And the right wing celebrates...The same people who would have accused Obama of betraying Israel if he had given Abbas what he wanted.

doesn’t that show the weakness of the americans in dealing with this issue? He blamed the americans for taking back their promises, actually the american policy in this conflict has always been the same, nothing gonna change
